Greenprene® Insulating Foam

Greenprene® is Henderson’s neoprene-free insulating foam designed to provide warmth, stretch, durability, UV resistance, and reduced weight. The material is formulated from deproteinized natural rubber together with naturally derived additives including sugar cane, plant oils, and oyster shells.

Its soft and highly flexible construction is intended to reduce restriction while diving, helping the suit move naturally with the body while maintaining the thermal protection expected from a 5mm full wetsuit.

Fabric Laminates

AQUA-SILK® Exterior: The outer laminate is manufactured using material derived from recycled water bottles and consists of 88% recycled polyester and 12% spandex. Henderson selected AQUA-SILK® for its durability, abrasion resistance, Velcro® resistance, and fast-drying properties.

BIO-SPAN® Interior: The inner laminate is also manufactured using material derived from recycled water bottles and consists of 88% recycled polyester and 12% nylon. It is designed to provide comfort, warmth, softness, and high stretch against the body.

Neoprene Allergies & Sensitivities

Greenprene® insulating foam is 100% neoprene free. However, a complete wetsuit contains multiple materials, fabrics, adhesives, and components that may contact the skin. A neoprene-free construction therefore does not guarantee that an individual will not experience an allergic or sensitivity reaction.

Henderson recommends consulting with a physician and testing the material when allergies or sensitivities are a concern. Henderson can provide a Greenprene® wrist-cuff sample for testing under a physician’s guidance.

Sustainable Packaging

Henderson designed the Greenprene® wetsuit program with a more sustainable product lifecycle in mind. Greenprene® wetsuits are packaged in recycled cardboard boxes and hand wrapped with recycled paper. Recycled cardboard cores are used to help reduce compression marks caused by folding and storage, while product hangtags are printed on recycled paper using soy-based inks.
