Overview
Ready to begin your SCUBA diving adventure in San Diego? House of Scuba offers a comprehensive PADI Open Water Certification course over two weekends, combining pool training and open water dives. Before joining us, students must complete a medical questionnaire and the PADI e-learning course. Our classes are small and personal, with all pool and ocean sessions led by experienced, certified instructors. Your PADI certification lasts a lifetime and once you complete your certification you will be able to dive independently of a dive professional to a depth of up to 60' with a buddy.

Class Schedule. There are two formats available
If a class has a max of capacity of 6 it will run as format 1, if the max capacity is 3 it will run as format 2
Format 1: Standard (Two Weekends)
This format is perfect for local students or those who prefer a traditional weekend schedule.
First Weekend: Confined water sessions in a pool. Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Saturday & Sunday).
Second Weekend: Ocean sessions at La Jolla Shores. Time: Starts at 7:00 AM.
Format 2: Semi Private & Flexible (Accelerated)
This format offers a more personalized experience with a condensed pool schedule.
Day 1: One full day of intensive confined water training at a private pool.
Ocean Days: These typically occur the next 2 consecutive days but can be adjusted.
Requirements
- E-learning must be completed prior to your first pool session
- Moderate water comfort required. You will be required to swim 200 yards and do a 10-minute tread/float
- Ages 10+ welcome (special pricing for ages 10 and 11)
What’s Included & What You’ll Need
Included:
- Instruction from certified PADI professionals
- Use of SCUBA rental gear (wetsuit, BCD, regulator, tank, weights, computer, gear bag)
- PADI Digital log book
Required (Student-Provided):
- Personal gear: Mask, Snorkel, Fins, Booties, Gloves, Hood (also available to rent for duration of course for $96)
